Since I began teaching back in 1997, I've found passion to be the key
Over the past two and a half decades, my results speak for themselves. My students continue to grow in their technique, skill and performance ability. And more than this, they’ve all developed a deep love for music.
I’ve found passion and love for music to be the key that enables students to progress without limits. And so, I’ve based my methodology on this. Rather than teach my students nursery rhymes for the sake of playing something easy to grasp, I start my students off with popular songs.
This does two things. It helps to foster a desire to practice between lessons and it sparks further curiosity in other songs that my students are keen to learn.
The songs I choose aren’t random either. They have been specifically chosen to develop certain techniques which are essential to playing the guitar well. And the best part? Most of my students don’t even feel like practice is work! That’s because it’s just pure fun!

Meet Jo - Guitar Ecademy Founder
My Guitar Background
Hi, I’m Jo. I started playing the guitar at the age of 12 and never looked back. I learned and mastered different styles of playing including rock, classical, pop, jazz, latin, flamenco, country, folk and blues.
I began gigging professionally at the age of 16 and at the age of 18 I went to study classical guitar at the Guildhall School of Music and eventually Jazz at Middlesex University, London.
During this time I continued performing and began touring internationally.
To date I have gigged in more countries and cities than I can remember and have had the privilege to share the stage and play with many renowned musicians.
My PRoduction Background
I began producing music in 2010 and have gone on to direct and produce several albums and numerous tracks.
My music has had over 150 million streams on Spotify and I’ve been fortunate to work with artists like Beyonce, Brandy, Craig David, Andy Mckee, Sugarbabes, Lamar, ManyFew, Papa Zeus, 99 Souls, Little Mix and loads more.
I’ve also been nominated for an MTV Music Video Award as well as having one of my tracks go platinum.
